We’re almost there! Monday is the Math STAAR and Tuesday is the Reading STAAR for our 7th graders. I am so glad to be done with it! The downside to that is that the students will still have 16 days of school left. According to the TEKS, 7th grade is supposed to focus on research during that time. Research, at the end of the year? Really?? Ok, I can do this. I just need to come up with a way to make it somewhat fun and interesting.
Currently, we are over halfway through with our class novel, “The Giver”. I would like to tie the research project in with “The Giver” if at all possible to help continue this particular lesson as long as I can, so I created the Author Research Brochure Project.
The first round, the students will complete the brochure on the author of “The Giver”, Lois Lowry. Then they will have to choose an author to complete a second brochure on. The will fill in details such as date and place of birth, spouse, children, interesting facts, a timeline of the author’s life, their education, awards or honors received, books written, and quotes from the author. They will finish the brochure up with the list of websites they received the information from. Our class will be completing this in Google Slides, however, I do have a printed version available on the store as well.
Today and tomorrow ONLY (May 9 & 10, 2017), I am hosting a sale, in addition to the TPT sale going on right now. So grab yours today!
The students have begun to complete their brochures on Lois Lowry and they are turning out great! Here’s a few for you to see:
